Off-Gassing Booths

A Dedicated Zone for Residual Hydrocarbons.

Dedicated off-gassing enclosures for spent biomass after hydrocarbon extraction, configured to separate residual solvent release from your primary extraction zone.

Overview

Spent biomass socks or sacks can retain hydrocarbons after extraction. As those residual solvents evaporate, they need a dedicated, engineered environment. Podtronix off-gassing booths are an add-on to hydrocarbon extraction labs, built around hazardous-location requirements similar to a C1D1 extraction zone and generally smaller than the room that houses the extraction equipment. A separate zone helps keep biomass handling and residual vapor release from interrupting the main extraction process.

Protect the Workflow

Separate Off-Gassing From Extraction

Residual hydrocarbons, often butane, can continue evaporating from spent biomass after extraction. Keeping that activity inside the main extraction room may raise vapor levels enough to activate Alarm 2 and shut down equipment. Leaving the sacks in an uncontrolled area creates a separate flammable-vapor hazard.

A dedicated booth gives this step its own engineered zone. Its safety systems still respond to hazardous conditions. Discuss ventilation, gas detection, alarm behavior, electrical classification and handling procedures as part of the complete facility design.

Sized for Your Biomass Handling

Off-gassing booths are generally smaller than extraction labs. We configure the footprint around your sack volume, access and handling needs; no fixed standard off-gassing booth dimensions are assumed.

Planning Questions

What to Know Before You Build

What is an off-gassing booth?

An off-gassing booth is a dedicated enclosure for spent biomass socks or sacks that retain residual hydrocarbons after extraction. It is generally smaller than the main extraction room and is engineered around the vapor hazard, handling volume and facility layout.

Why separate off-gassing from the extraction room?

Residual solvent released from spent biomass can raise vapor concentrations in the extraction room and trigger its safety response, including an Alarm 2 shutdown. A dedicated off-gassing zone separates that activity from equipment operation. Safety alarms and interlocks remain active; a separate booth does not guarantee uninterrupted production.

Are standard extraction lab sizes also off-gassing booth sizes?

Off-gassing booths are sized for the operation. The published standard footprints describe extraction lab planning options; they are not a fixed off-gassing booth size list. Podtronix reviews sack volume, handling access and the required engineered ventilation package before confirming dimensions.

Can spent biomass be left outside the booth to off-gas?

An uncontrolled area does not provide an engineered vapor-handling environment. Residual hydrocarbons can create a flammable atmosphere. Work with Podtronix and your facility safety team to define a dedicated zone and an approved handling procedure.
